Reuters published a story this week on a massive campaign to identify and treat patients suffering from hepatitis C infection in Egypt. The aim of the campaign is to screen the entire adult population — or 50 million people — in an attempt to eliminate the disease from the country by 2022.
The campaign, Reuters reports, runs from October to April, and has already screened more than 11 million people. Where there are no health facilities, churches, mosques and youth centres are offering screening for hepatitis C.
